Cultural Culinary Journeys, Made in Montréal.
Itowo is a culinary pop-up offering immersive market tours, hands-on cooking classes, and intimate private dinners in Montréal. Itowo means taste in Yoruba, and taste is exactly where each experience begins. Guided by the perspective of an African chef, Itowo blends rich cultural storytelling with bold, refined Afro-Fusion cooking. From the vibrant stalls of Jean Talon Market to rotating tasting menus, every detail is rooted in heritage, creativity, and connection.
Services
Discover Montréal’s historic Jean Talon Market through the eyes of a chef. Over 90 minutes, I guide guests through a curated loop of the market’s best vendors and street food stalls, sharing the stories, history, and hidden gems that make this space iconic. Along the way, we sample specialty foods and interact with the vendors I personally source from, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how chefs connect with ingredients and the people behind them.
This experience is currently in development and will be available soon. Join my mailing list or follow along on Instagram for updates.
In this 2.5-hour hands-on class, guests learn knife skills, simple sauces, and key ratios, not just recipes. We’ll source ingredients from Jean Talon Market and transform them together, guided by African heritage and global inspiration.
As an Afro-Fusion chef, I teach through story, technique, and intention. Each class is a celebration of culture, creativity, and connection.
This intimate experience features a five-course plated tasting menu built around seasonal ingredients, cultural memory, and creative expression. No two menus are the same. Each one reflects what’s fresh, what’s possible, and what I’m inspired to create in the moment.
As a Nigerian-born chef with international experience, I use Afro-Fusion to tell stories, weaving together flavours, textures, and personal history into every course. These dinners offer more than just food. They’re a seated, sensory exploration of heritage and identity, plated with intention.
About the Chef
I’m a versatile African chef with over 9 years of international industry experience, now bringing immersive culinary experiences directly to guests in Montréal.
My work blends tradition and innovation. Whether guiding market tours through the historic Jean Talon Market, teaching hands-on cooking classes that honour each ingredient, or curating private dinners that tell rich cultural stories through food. Rooted in African heritage and sharpened by global technique, my approach transforms cooking into an art form that celebrates history, flavour, and connection at every step.
